Attorney Rob Fox practices family law, including divorce and custody matters, business litigation and estate litigation from our Richmond and Williamsburg, Virginia offices of Smith | Strong, PLC.
Rob is an experienced litigator with over 20 years of practice. He is no stranger to high-stakes and high-profile cases. Rob has successfully defended a $4.1 million fine before both the state Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court. Additionally, at trial, Rob obtained a $1.3 million fine against a company and its owners for usurious lending practices, and then successfully defended the case on appeal.
Prior to joining Smith | Strong, PLC, Rob worked as a senior attorney with the Department of Financial Services, where he litigated complex disciplinary and enforcement actions before various tribunals, circuit courts, and appellate courts. Rob has also served a senior attorney with the Office of Financial Regulation, where he was intricately involved in all major banking issues that the Office faced, including the licensing and chartering of financial institutions, the review, approval, and removal of financial institution-affiliated parties, the safety and soundness of banks and credit unions, as well as money laundering.
Rob has handled numerous constitutional questions, including due process, equal protection, the right against self-incrimination, free speech, and the commerce clause.
Initiative, creativity in problem-solving, and a commitment to building consensus among the parties are hallmarks of Rob’s approach.
Rob is a native New Yorker who now calls Midlothian, Virginia home. He enjoys duckpin bowling, watching sports, especially baseball and tennis, and spending time with family and friends.
