Abby Acheson maintains an active trial practice, including family law (divorce, child custody, and support), estate/fiduciary litigation (will disputes, trust contests), guardianship/conservatorship matters, and civil litigation from our west end Richmond, Virginia office of Smith Strong PLC. Abby appears in court weekly throughout central Virginia, including a 1.5-hour radius surrounding Richmond, VA, encompassing well over 17 counties.
Abby grew up in Henrico County and attended Glen Allen High School. After high school, she went to James Madison University where she graduated, cum laude, with a major in Psychology, and a minor in Criminal Justice.
After college, Abby attended West Virginia University College of Law, where she received her Juris Doctor. She participated in many organizations including Law Review where she served as an associate editor and Executive Editor of Alumni Relations, Women's Leadership Council where she served as secretary, and Alternative Dispute Resolution Society where she served as treasurer. Abby also worked in the Child and Family Law Clinic where she handled a variety of matters including divorce, custody, support, and estate planning.
Following law school, Abby served as a Law Clerk for Hanover Circuit Court for both Circuit Court Judges. This experience allowed her to see firsthand a Judge’s decision-making process and received guidance on how to effectively present a case. She was able to view a variety of matters including divorce, custody, support, guardianships, conservatorships, criminal, and estate litigation. Abby is able to take the knowledge she learned during her clerkship and apply it to the needs of her clients.
Abby lives in Glen Allen, Virginia with her fiancé and their dog, Remy. When she is not in the office, she can be found traveling, cooking, reading, or training for her next race.
Abby is admitted to practice in Virginia and is a member of the Virginia State Bar.
