If you use marijuana and are anticipating going through a custody case, tread carefully.

Will using marijuana cause you to lose your kids?  Some states, including Virginia, are rather conservative when it comes to drug use.  Therefore, if you are a Virginia resident, your drug use could count against you in a custody situation.

We are not judging the action--rather, alerting you to what custody courts might say. When custody of your children is in question, it is a good idea to steer clear of marijuana use. Each case is different, so be sure to speak with an attorney who has experience in the courtroom in the city or county where you reside.
