GALs, or guardian ad litem attorneys, are sometimes appointed by courts to represent the best interests of the child in hotly contested custody cases.

In these cases, it is important for you and your attorney to partner early with the GAL in a positive way.  Specifically, the GAL needs to have a good understanding of your side of the story, and how you are looking out for your children's needs.  This way, when the court date approaches, the GAL will have a favorable opinion of you to present to the judge in your custody case.
